Both plug-in and remote cabinets are refrigerated storage appliances used in convenience stores and supermarkets. Plug-In cabinets are the freestanding display cases that work rather like a household fridge-freezer: both the condenser and the compressor are built-in and the unit only has to be plugged in to use.

Remote cabinets are an installed, fixed-location refrigerated appliance that work off a centralised compressor and controller system. Remote cabinets are preferred by convenience store operators due to their lower energy consumption, lower noise, larger storage volume, and scalability. Multiple cabinets can be run off the same system.
