What are compressors in air conditioning systems?
The compressor is the component that pressurises (compresses) the refrigerant in order to increase its pressure and temperature. The rest of the air conditioning system will then condense and cool the heated refrigerant gas turning it into its liquid state, and passing it to the evaporator. The evaporator lowers the pressure of the refrigerant and this process of evaporation cools the air that is pumped into the room.
